PAONTA SAHIB: The historical and ancient temple “Dei Ji Sahiba” located on the bank of Yamuna River in Paonta sahib is all set to get a new shape as the work of renovation is likely to start soon. Notably, Indian National art Cultural heritage (INTACH) have decided to introduce geo technology in the field of civil works during the renovation of the temple, this technique is to introduce first time in the state. A four member team of INTACH had visited the site for collecting the information related to temple last year in February. Recently state convener Malika Pathania, Indian National art Cultural heritage and geo technology expert Alok Saxeana visited the site for getting the feedback so that the work may be started soon. On the directions of the High court the INTACH had intervened into the restoration work of ancient temple. The Paonta sahib based social organizations had filed a writ petition (PIL) in 2008 for restoring the past glory of the temple, on which the High Court had assigned the work. The temple had rare Kangra paintings but no efforts were under taken on the part of temple committee as well as administration for preserving it. As per as the information once the wall paintings and structure of the temple was an exemplary but the whitewash on the walls without proper care vanished the old art of the history. The INTACH is India’s largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to conservation and preservation of India’s natural cultural, living, tangible and intangible heritage. The temple which is also known as Ram temple was erected in memory of Raja Partap Chand of Kangra in 1889 by hi s wife. The state High Court had passed the order for the restoration on 13-1-2012. . The state convener of INTACH Malvika Pathania said that temple lost its glory due to the negligence and added that it was the result of the petition that the administration have come in action for the restoration of the temple. She also confirmed that geo technology in civil works is likely to introduce first time in the state in such works.
