NAHAN: A prosperous trust, Kalgidhar, Baru Sahib, in Sirmaur has come under scanner for suspected violation of Section 118 of the Land Reform and Tenancy Act, 1972. District administration have launched the probe on the instruction of the finical commissioner (revenue)
The Rajgarh SDM has been asked to file a preliminary investigation report. Sources said the SDM may submit his report within a week after which the ADM would look into the matter.
Sources said that there was a complainant that the trust is violating the norms in the area. Recently state government had cancelled the lease of Baba Ram Dev thus the probe of Kalgidhar trust also seems to be important.
It is happening first time when the revenue record and construction works of the trust is being scrutinized.
Though the real matter will come to light after a detailed inquiry, sources said the trust had started purchasing land in the area in 1956. For the past 10 years, the construction has been going on as evident from the fact that Baru Sahib is the only area in the district where tall buildings similar to metropolitan cities could be seen.
The government has decided to start the probe on the basis of 10 points. As the area falls under a Panchayat, norms of town and country planning do not apply to the activities of the trust. Sources said the trust may have 700 bighas of land in revenue records.
The Rajgarh SDM admitted that he has been asked to file a report as soon as possible. The trust has been asked to provide the revenue record, he said, while refusing to share more information at this juncture.
ADM Manmohan Sharma confirmed that the probe has been launched. He said during the probe it would be looked into if there is any violation in Section 118 of the act. The PRO of the trust Jitender Singh refused to comment and asked to contact trustees over the issue. The trust is running Akal Academy and Eternal University on the campus located in Baru Sahib. Under the aegis of the trust, the university is running more than half-a- dozen professional courses. The trust is reportedly also getting foreign aid since long but the source has never been checked.
